FIP Ladies European Championship: Italy, INVINCIBLE

En el Polo Club La Mimosa, en Pogliano Milanese, a pocos kilómetros del centro de Milán, se jugó desde el miércoles 22 hasta el domingo 26 de septiembre la tercera edición de la U.S. Polo Assn. FIP Ladies European Polo Championship.

Participaron los seleccionados femeninos de hasta 16 goles de Alemania, Gran Bretaña, Irlanda e Italia.

En su tercera final consecutiva, Italia volvió a proclamarse campeón (había ganado en 2018 en Chantilly y perdido frente a Alemania en Villa a Sesta 2019). Las italianas vencieron a Inglaterra por 6,5-6, gracias también a la ventaja obtenida por hándicap. La inglesa Heloise Wilson Smith ganó el premio a la mejor jugadora del campeonato.

La final por el tercer puesto fue para Irlanda la que se impuso a Alemania por 5-3 en la tanda de penales, después de que el partido se cancelara por las malas condiciones tras la fuerte lluvia.

Alessandro Giachetti, responsable del Departamento de Polo de la Federación Italiana de Deportes Ecuestres (FISE): "Han sido dos semanas bastante intensas para nosotros y estamos inmensamente satisfechos de haber conseguido ganar los dos títulos europeos, primero con el equipo masculino y luego con el femenino. Es una señal importante para el polo italiano, un estímulo adicional para seguir trabajando bien, especialmente con los jóvenes, para que este deporte sea más popular."

El Campeonato Europeo de Polo Femenino fue organizado por el Club de Polo La Mimosa en colaboración con la Federación Italiana de Deportes Ecuestres (FISE) y contó con el patrocinio de la Federación Internacional de Polo (FIP), la Región de Lombardía, el Ayuntamiento de Milán y el Ayuntamiento de Pogliano Milanese.

ENGLISH VERSION At the Polo Club La Mimosa, in Pogliano Milanese, a few kilometers from the center of Milan, was played from Wednesday 22 to Sunday 26 September the third edition of the U.S. Polo Assn. FIP Ladies European Polo Championship.

The women's teams up to 16 goals from Germany, Great Britain, Ireland and Italy took part.

A fantastic Italian team triumphed in their third final of FIP Ladies European Polo Championship (they had won in 2018 in Chantilly and lost to Germany at Villa a Sesta 2019). The Italians beat England 6.5-6, therefore also thanks to a 0.5 handicap advantage.

In the final for third and fourth positions it was Ireland that beat Germany 5-3 in a penalty shootout after the match had been cancelled due to bad conditions following heavy rain that this morning obliged the Organising Committee to postpone the match for first and second place by an hour from 9 to 10 AM.

England’s Heloise Wilson Smith won the prize for the best player in the championship.

Alessandro Giachetti is responsible for the Italian Equestrian Sports Federation’s Polo Department: “These have been two rather intense weeks for us and we are immensely satisfied to have managed to win both European titles first with the Men’s Team and then with the Ladies. It sends an important signal for Italian polo, an additional stimulus to continue to work well especially with the young so as to ensure this sport becomes more popular.”

The European Women's Polo Championship was organized by La Mimosa Polo Club in collaboration with the Italian Equestrian Sports Federation (FISE) and was sponsored by the International Polo Federation (FIP), the Region of Lombardy, the Municipality of Milan and the Municipality of Pogliano Milanese.
