Scotland enjoyed a great weekend of good polo in Farmington

The activity at Farmington Polo Club, in Connecticut, an important institution in the polo scene in the United States, continues strongly with several summer tournaments. (Spanish version bellow)

Last weekend was the third test match against European teams, when the local Team USA McLaren faced a team from Scotland. Four members from Edinburgh Polo Club joined Farmington Polo Club for a week full of polo. A friendship supported by Winston Churchill's famous quote- "a polo handicap is a passport to the world" Edinburgh owner and manager James Douglas organized the trip with FPC club manager Heather Souto. The two met over a decade ago at Newport Polo Club during a similar playing experience for team Scotland. "Dan and Agnes Keating do such an incredible job hosting International Teams at their club. It was always a highlight when I was member to meet new players, and play with revisiting teams each year. James and I might be a bit slower on the field and dance floor now- but this is a trip we knew we had to organize!" During the course of the week FPC club members leant their personal horses to the Scottish visitors for practice and stick and ball. Evening asados rounded out the day. Saturday the teams took the field to the 3rd and final International Match of the season. Scotland shut out team USA in the 4th chukka. USA team Captain Costi Caset took to the field in chukka 5 with no mercy and quickly scored 4 goals to even out the score. USA took the win in the end. The event was sponsored by McLaren Boston which exhibited a large number of luxurious supercars.

As an emerging club into the polo circuit, International matches have been a highlight this season. With a large student body and many members still in their beginning years, FPC looks to offer more than just tournament play. The clubs' philanthropic roots often play matches for charity, awareness and comradery.

The members of FPC look to re-take to the field, across the pond next season in Edinburgh against team Scotland. FPC women members are also looking forward to an epic to Ireland. Next weekend the action will continue with the Special Olympics of Connecticut Match.

TEAMS Scotland: Helena Robson, Adam Dove, Hiro Sizuki and James Douglas

USA: Dana Barnes, Al Keshvarzian, Costi Caset and Jimmy DeAngelis
