Polo shines again in Punta Ala, Italy

The italian polo celebrated the new edition of the Torna il Polo a Punta Ala at Punta Ala Polo Club, in the province of Grosseto (Tuscany).

The first edition of the Punta Ala Polo Cup, the event that from September 14th to 17th brought back its historic Maremma Equestrian Center to its former splendor, came to an end this Saturday. Four days of emotion, starting with the parade of horses through the Port of the city on Wednesday, passing through the days of competition. In addition to the matches, it was the organization of the event that captured the attention - and the heart - including all the side events that revived a tradition and a passion that has never been completely extinguished, those of great polo. In terms of sports, four 8-goal teams participated and it was the US Polo Assn. team, thanks to the performance of 'Pato' Rattagan, who became champion after beating the polo team of Hotel Gallia Palace in a well-played final, by 5 to 3½ . In third place was Podernuovo, who defeated Battistoni by 6 to 3½. In addition to the polo, the social activities stood out, such as the big party on Friday night, with the Argentine players cooking a asado for more than 200 people.

"In Italy there is a great passion, this is the way forward", expressed Alessandro Giachetti, head of the FISE Polo Department, and continued: "it has been a long time since we had seen so many people at a polo competition. The Punta Ala community responded incredibly well. There was a great show on the field and we bring home a positive trend of growth: for the future it is important that business realities such as Gaia Bulgari enter the world of polo making a fundamental contribution to development. The Punta Ala Polo Cup is an example of what polo can and should become in the near future, and this field can become a valid support point for the preparation of federal and national teams. We will be back in 2023 with the European Women's Championship and it will be a high-level international launch, but there will certainly be a good number of high-level tournaments on the calendar."

El polo volvió a brillar en Punta Ala

El polo de Italia se vistió de fiesta con el flamante Torna Il Polo Punta Ala en el Punta Ala Polo Club, en la provincia de Grosseto (Toscana).

Se cerró este sábado la primera edición de la Punta Ala Polo Cup, el evento que del 14 al 17 de septiembre devolvió su antiguo esplendor al histórico Centro Ecuestre de la Maremma. Cuatro días de emoción, empezando por el desfile de caballos por las calles de la ciudad el miércoles, pasando por los días de competición. Además de los partidos, fue la organización del evento lo que robó la atención -y el corazón-, incluyendo todos los eventos paralelos que revivieron una tradición y una pasión que nunca se extinguió del todo, las del gran polo. En lo deportivo, participaron 4 formaciones de 8 goles y fue el equipo US Polo Team, gracias al juego de 'Pato' Rattagan, que se consagró campeón luego de superar al equipo de polo de Hotel Gallia Palace en una final bien jugada, por 5 a 3½ . En tercer lugar quedó Podernuovo, que venció a Battistoni por 6 a 3½. Además del polo sobresalieron las actividades sociales como la gran fiesta del viernes por la noche, con los jugadores argentinos que cocinaron un asado para más de 200 personas

“En Italia hay una gran pasión, este es el camino a seguir", expresó Alessandro Giachetti, jefe del Departamento de Polo de la FISE, y continuó: "hacía mucho tiempo que no veíamos tanta gente en una competición de polo. La comunidad de Punta Ala respondió de forma increíble. En el campo hubo un gran espectáculo y nos traemos a casa una tendencia positiva de crecimiento: para el futuro es importante que realidades empresariales como Gaia Bulgari entren en el mundo del polo aportando una contribución fundamental al desarrollo. La Copa de Polo de Punta Ala es un ejemplo de lo que el polo puede y debe llegar a ser en un futuro próximo, y este campo puede convertirse en un punto de apoyo válido para la preparación de los equipos federales y nacionales. Volveremos en 2023 con el Campeonato de Europa femenino y será un lanzamiento internacional de alto nivel, pero sin duda habrá un buen número de torneos de alto nivel en el calendario".
